The sources give a very small impression of the difficulties to realise "United States of Europe". This had already been discussed before and after World War I. One Europe changed into an utopia at the begin of the 1950s, because of the influence of the political and military blocks in the Cold War with the demarcation line through Central Europe. The European Economic Community (EEC) and the European Community for the Atomic energy (EURATOM) were steps to European Union with now 25 members in West and East Europe.
