In the 1950ties the Treaty of Rome ensured the integration of West-Germany (BRD) to Western-Europe. One Europe changed into an utopia at the begin of the 1950ties, because of the influence of the political and military blocks in the Cold War with the demarcation line through Central Europe and Germany. It seemed that the participation of BRD to EEC was a decision for freedom against one state of Germany. Only the developement in the late 1980ies and the unification 1990, the growing power of EU-15, the end of the Cold War and now EU-27 represent the success of those first steps. In our days the vision that Europe should be a Zone of peace, security, stabiliy and prosperitiy can be carried out.
