June 6th 1944, the Allies land in Normandy. The fights take place on the French soil. Lots of cities in Normandy are destroyed mainly by bombings. The Vichy government remains neutral in these fights, though denouncing what they call the invasion of the French territory. Some collaborationists aim at leading France into the conflict siding with Nazi Germany. Yet, for most of the French population, this is LIBERATION even the price to pay for civilians is often too high.
