Contextualisation of the source« Le Drapeau Rouge » is a weekly newspaper of the Belgium Communist Party, established on 1922 by Joseph Jacquemotte . Edited in Brussels. “Le Drapeau Rouge” has been published clandestinely under the German occupation from 1940 to 1944, until the Release. The « Drapeau Rouge » is a weekly diary with communist leanings, claiming it is the press organ of the PCB (Belgian Communist Party). Its articles are aimed to a Communist readership.
Interpretation of the sourceRome, 1957, six European countries (France, West Germany, Luxemburg, Belgium, the Netherlands and Italy) are going to sign a treaty related to the European reflation which aims to promote social and economic progresses thanks to a common market.

Two main trends are opposed : in one hand the politicians and the big monopolies wish to ratify this treaty which will allow to freely exchange goods and services amongst the countries of the community, and in the other hand the socialists and the communists who are afraid of an increase of competition, of a disappearance of small firms and of the creation of cartels (tacit collusion) by the large monopolistic groups.
