The standard of living increased markedly in the Poland of the 1970s. It is time of modernizing industry and increasing the availability of consumer goods, doing so mostly through foreign loans. E. Gierek's good relations with Western politicians were a catalyst for his receiving western aid and loans.

The Polish Authorities condemned the terrorists’ attack in Munich, as the act oppressing the idea of Peace, especially during the Olympic Games. The Polish national team, however officially supported the idea of continuing the Olympic Games. It is worth mentioning that the common political preferences were on the side of Palestine. Poland was really open to them and they were eager to study in Poland. Earlier, in 1967 Poland supported Egypt during its 6-days conflict with Israel. The revenge actions taken by Mossad were criticised in Poland as a kind of Israeli imperialism and tendency to their domination in Close East Zone.
