Contextualisation of the sourceThe file shows the entering to Terni of the British Eight Army troops, during the liberation of Italy. Terni became free on June 13th, 1944.
Interpretation of the sourceThe entry of Allied troops is preceded by several repeated bombings. The city is desert and you could not see nor enemy troops resisting (but only marching away silently) or liberated citizens welcoming Allied troops (after 11 months of bombings, maybe just a few of them was still in the city).
