Critical Interpretation of the event starting form the Sources

The newspapers which were submitted to occupying forces always use the results of the Anglo-American bombings on the Belgian towns (dead, wounded persons, destructions, population sufferings) in order to make anti-Allies propaganda, accumulating, without comments, precise (or supposed exact) figures of killed and wounded persons, giving turned against Allies comments and apparently irrefutable arguments, ironically calling the Allies “liberators”. For it is difficult to remain in the cold state in front of scenes of distress, in front of persons reached by the bombardments.

On the other hand the few clandestine newspapers, distributed in all the country, justify the Allies bombings as a strategy aiming only at purely military targets. They present the air raids of the Allied as necessary stages towards the liberation so as to encourage, to give hope, to cheer populations up.
