The official interpretation of the Nuremberg Trial was in line with the interpretation given in the press. It was felt to be highly important that justice was seen to be done to those who had been responsible for organising the war and war crimes. This has been a theme which has continued through other conflicts in the twentieth century, notably the war crimes trials over Kosovo.
