The national perspective is two faceted. The official one is tied to the parties at the government and to the Italian position in the Western world at an international level. This perspective shows the scientific aspects of the event more than anything else, and expresses and opening to the communist world, establishing a link to the forming of a centre-left force in Italy. The other perspective is the one of the communist party which interprets the event as a legitimation of the URSS and of its own role in the national politics. Under this light the topics of peace and disarm have a new meaning: the universal discussions aimed at going passed the interests of a part in favour of the entire humanity, can be read as a controversy regarding Italy belonging to NATO, against which the communist party had organized a movement of social and political opposition.
