The use of airforce for bombing in World War II was one of the reasons that made the war a "total war". The airforce attacks also caused the hopelessness of the German population from 1943 on. It ended with dropping atomic bombs against Hiroshima and Nagasaki. The reality in the German cities and the power of the "Combined Bomber Offensive" from R.A.F. and USAAF since 1943 stood in total contrast and conflict to the Nazi-Propaganda at that time. The contemporary view of the Bombings is differentieted and based on international and local sources.
