The sources focus upon the historical importance of the Nuremberg Trial in the first three days of it opening. The opening statements and presentations go into great detail about the background to the war, setting the start of the war in 1939 in the context of the Nazi seizure of power in 1933 and describe a conspiracy in the planning of the war. The sources are extremely factual in nature and provide an overview of how the defendants are being treated in contrast to their war crimes and their treatment of such groups as the Jews. It has to be remembered that the trials are being carried out by the victorious powers acting under international law. The trials were constructed and researched by a team of four countries supported by at least 14 other nations suggesting that this is an international event, and as a result objectivity is suggested.
