In West-Germany the "Spring of Prague" and the invasion in CSSR were seen in one context with the invasion in Berlin 1953 and the building of the Berlin Wall in 1961. The German sources show the fear of a hot war in the Cold War: "Soviet tank at the Bavarian border". The event made clear, that there was a great wish for liberalisation in CSSR but no flexibility in Warsaw Pact. So the answer of Soviet Union was military violence. The violence increased the fear towards the Soviet-Russian empire and fixed the "iron curtain". The demarcation line crossing Europe was defendet and DDR (who was involved with troops agains CSSR) and BRD developed more apart.
