- 25th April 1986: For a test in Block 4 the safty systems were stopped.
- April 26th, 1986: one of the reactors of the atomic station in Chernobyl catches fire
- April 27th 1986: higher radiation was measured in Northfinland coming probably from a soviet nuclear station.
- April 28th 1986: Higher radiation was measured in Sweden und Denmark probably from a soviet nuclear station; Soviet news agency Agentur TASS reports first time about an accident.
- April 29th 1986: Soviet governmet speaks for the first time about a nuclear accident.
- April 30th 1986: Soviet government denies reports about thousands of dead people; water and are are in order, they say. In other European countries higher radiation is measured. Unofficial request for western help by Soviet diplomats.
- June 15th 1986: A part of the leaders of the nuclear power station in Chernobyl are dismissed.
- September 29th 1986: Block 1 und 2 work begin to work again
- November 15th 1986: The concrete sarcophagus is ready.
- 1991: Government of Ukraine decides to stop the atomic station’s activity
- December 15th, 2000: after long negotiations, the definitive closing of the atomic station is established
